The Republican primary for Virginia’s 5th Congressional District was a close race Tuesday night between House Freedom Caucus Chairman Bob Good and State Sen. John Maguire.
As of 11pm, 92% of the votes had been counted, with Maguire leading by just 300 votes.
The race will now shift to a recount of the Republican primary in the reliably Republican 5th District in the southern part of the state.

“The entire DC Swamp ran against us with over $10 million in attack ads, but with your help we kept this election very close,” Good wrote.
“No matter the outcome, you have shown DC Swamp to never give up on standing up for justice. Keep the faith and don’t stop fighting now,” he said.

Goode also attended Trump’s criminal trial in New York City this spring, showing her support for the former president.
