Vice President Harris is expected to denounce former President Trump for the downfall of Roe v. Wade on Monday, the anniversary of the historic Supreme Court decision that overturned abortion rights at the federal level.
Harris will visit Maryland for a campaign event marking the second anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson, which left the issue of abortion up to the states. The Biden-Harris campaign announced the event on Wednesday.
“The Vice President will remind voters that Donald Trump is to blame for the overturning of Roe and the chaos that has followed, and will highlight the threat that President Trump’s reelection poses to reproductive freedom across the nation,” the campaign said in a statement.
Harris has been the Biden administration’s leading voice promoting reproductive rights since Roe was overturned, traveling around the country to meet with pro-abortion advocates.
The vice president kicked off his “Fight for Reproductive Freedom” tour in January, which focuses on efforts to protect reproductive rights after dozens of states have enacted laws restricting abortion access in the past two years.
During her tours and other campaign activities, Harris has often roundly criticized Trump for restrictive post-Roe laws.
Speaking in Arizona in April, she claimed Trump was “gaslighting” her on abortion and warned against him being re-elected.
