Netanyahu Is Right, Biden Is Withholding Approved Weapons

Sen. Bill Hagerty, R-Tenn., said Wednesday that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is right to complain that President Joe Biden is withholding weapons supplies to Israel and deliberately not completing sales approved by Congress.

In a thread posted on X (formerly Twitter), Hagerty, who serves on the Senate Foreign Relations and Appropriations committees, explained:

As Breitbart News previously noted, concerns are growing that a new rift could emerge between the Biden administration and Netanyahu’s government over the withholding of arms supplies as Israel faces growing threats from Iran’s terrorist proxies.

Netanyahu posted a video on Twitter on Tuesday calling on the administration to end the withholding of weapons. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre Responded:[W]”We really don’t know what he’s talking about. We don’t know.”

The president confirmed in early May that the US was withholding shipments of large precision-guided bombs in protest of Israel’s decision to attack Hamas in the southern Gaza city of Rafah. Amid reports of slow overall US arms deliveries, Biden warned that artillery shells would also be withheld. There were rumors earlier this week that the administration would announce it would resume shipments, but a video of Netanyahu causing an uproar in the US and Israel.

There were reports that the White House retaliated by canceling a high-level meeting with Israeli officials scheduled for Thursday to discuss Iran. The White House said the meeting had simply been postponed, but Hagerty suggested the rift was real.
