A shirtless off-duty firefighter told an emotional story of the moment he saved a man who had been shot in the head at a Maryland pool party on Wednesday night.
The dynamic good Samaritan – who identified himself only as a firefighter from Berkeley County, West Virginia – He told ABC7 She was talking to women at a pool party at a Glen Dale home when she suddenly saw a large group of partygoers flee the scene.
“So you start checking out where they’re running to see if anyone’s shooting or anything,” the tattooed witness said.
“Then I saw somebody, kind of crawling around, I thought it was a zombie,” he said of the injured man.
“I went up to his arm and I put pressure on him and they said he was shot in the head,” the firefighter added. “And I was like, ‘Damn, he was shot in the head! Whoa!'”
The man said he was shocked by the bloody scene but, full of adrenaline, he stayed with the victim until emergency services arrived.
“I kept talking to him, ‘Hey, stay with me, stay with me,’ I told him to grab my hand and hold it until he couldn’t hold it anymore,” the witness recalled.
After speaking to reporters at the scene about his experience, the firefighter added that it would likely be his last time partying in Glen Dale.

“Too many people come here and do crazy things,” he said.
Another witness claimed there had been a loud fight at the party prior to the shooting, which sparked several scuffles and brought the conflict to a boiling point. WUSA 9 reports.
Neighbors told local media they heard around 10 gunshots.
“Within 30 seconds I heard a series of gunshots, ‘pop, pop, pop, pop, pop,’ and then I saw him running. I saw he was covered in blood,” Reynold Walbrook told WUSA 9.
Prince George’s County police said they received a call about the shooting around 7 p.m. Wednesday but have not yet released any updates on a suspect.
But authorities said the victim is expected to survive.
