Affleck, 51, is known for looking less than happy when photographed in public, with the internet creating the “Sad Affleck” meme to reference the actor’s depressed personality.
The Oscar winner admitted that he is indeed “a little shy” and “doesn’t like a lot of attention.” Affleck’s appearance on Hart’s talk show came shortly after rumors of a split from his wife, Jennifer Lopez, who is currently on a solo summer vacation in Italy.

After revealing that he’s not interested in being the center of attention, Affleck elaborated further on his angry public persona.

“So people look at me and they think, why is this guy mad all the time? Because someone has a camera and they’re shoving it in my face,” Affleck said. “Because I’m with my kids and they’re taking pictures of me.”
He continued, “I don’t mind people taking pictures of me at clubs or premieres or whatever. I don’t mind. But when I’m with my kids, it’s a different story.”

Hart responded that there was a word to describe the condition Affleck was suffering from: “You have a black face at rest,” to which Affleck responded, “I have a stiff face at rest.”

Hart then offered a simple definition: “When people tell you they’re just sitting around, you always assume they have the wrong attitude, but actually they’re just cool.”
Affleck added, “People are projecting something onto me that I don’t feel about myself at all,” and also noted that people are assuming he’s someone he’s not.

“For a long time, people have been like, ‘This guy’s a sorority guy,’ and I’ve never been in a sorority in my life. I’ve never been inside a sorority. I’m not against anything. How could I be against it? I’ve never been inside,” he explained.
While Affleck has been struggling, Lopez has been soaking up the sun in Italy ahead of the couple’s second wedding anniversary.
