Former President Donald Trump called for a “religious revival” in the United States and expressed enthusiastic support for displaying the Ten Commandments in public and private schools.
President Trump made the comments on Friday via his social media platform, Truth Social, following high-profile reports that the state of Louisiana recently mandated the posting of the quote in schools.
“The truth is, I love the Ten Commandments in public schools, private schools and many other places. Read them. How can we as a nation get it wrong???” Trump asked in the capitalized post.

Trump continued, “This may actually be the first big step toward a much-needed religious revival in our country. Bring back TTC!!! MAGA2024.”
Louisiana became the first state to require the Ten Commandments to be posted in all public school classrooms after Republican Gov. Jeff Landry signed a bill into law Wednesday.
The bill, HB 71, would require the Ten Commandments to be displayed in poster-sized, “large, easily readable font” in all public classrooms, from kindergarten to state universities. Landry promoted the bill at a fundraiser in Tennessee over the weekend.
The exhibits, paired with a four-paragraph “contextualization” explaining how the Ten Commandments “have been a vital part of American public education for nearly three centuries,” must be installed in classrooms by early 2025.

The Ten Commandments are a list of statutes outlining fundamental ethical law that were allegedly revealed by God to the Jewish prophet Moses on Mount Sinai.
The first and most important commandment is to acknowledge God’s true nature as the Supreme Being of the universe, and subsequent commandments include instructions against murder, theft, adultery, and covetous possessions. Other commandments instruct mankind to honor the Sabbath and to honor parents.
Critics charge that the law violates the First Amendment by forcing access to religious texts in public institutions.
The ACLU has already announced its intention to challenge the order, pointing to a 1980 U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Kentucky that struck down a similar order to post the Ten Commandments outside a courthouse on First Amendment grounds.

Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick has pledged to pass a Ten Commandments ordinance in his state, and Oklahoma lawmakers are considering a similar bill.
Trump’s comments about the need for a “religious revival” in the United States are some of his most staunchly pro-religion statements to date.
Trump’s policy agenda and respect for the concerns of evangelical Christians make him a popular choice with religious voters, but the former president has remained vague about the details of his beliefs.
