Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.) said in an interview Saturday that “we cannot discount Black voters” when it comes to the 2024 presidential election.
“I know we can’t take black voters lightly,” Warnock said. Said “And I like the fact that the Biden-Harris campaign is not neglecting Black voters,” host Charles Coleman Jr. said on MSNBC’s “The Katie Pan Show.”
“The idea that black people can just show up is wrong,” Warnock said.
“And I believe Joe Biden understands that,” Warnock continued.[Vice President Harris] We certainly understand that, and that’s why you’ll see the ways in which they’ve already invested as we move forward with this campaign. [former President Trump,] “They’re reaching out to the Black community and trying to lift them up, and you’re going to see them step up in the coming months to tell that story, and that work isn’t done until November 5th.”
Recent polls have shown that majorities of black voters in Pennsylvania and Michigan say they would vote for Biden if the two men faced off against each other. Both Biden and Trump have recently stepped up their messaging to black male voters, underscoring the importance of the group when it comes to the upcoming presidential election.
Rep. James E. Clyburn (D-DC) recently blamed Biden’s problems with black voters on “misunderstandings” and “misinformation.”
“This is all about misunderstanding and disinformation, and I’m very wary of it,” Clyburn said in an interview Wednesday.
“We know the power of the media. They repeat these things instead of reporting what is actually going on, and that’s what creates problems,” he continued.
