Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina said President Biden should “pray” for presidential immunity, saying his border policies have opened the door for violent illegal immigrants to commit rape and murder against Americans.

“Joe Biden better pray for presidential immunity because he paroled Laken Riley’s murderer. [of] “I believe that lack of competence would make him subject to not only litigation but criminal prosecution if he did not have presidential immunity,” Graham said on “Fox News Sunday.”

Graham’s comments came amid a discussion of growing Democratic criticism of the Supreme Court, including Biden’s comments earlier this month that “the Supreme Court has never been more hung in the balance than it is today,” and the possibility that the Senate could impose ethics rules on the court.

Republican senators argued that Democrats are attacking the Supreme Court to protect President Biden’s record in office, including immigration policies that have led to more than 7 million illegal immigrants crossing the border.

“Our border is collapsing. There’s war in Ukraine. The Middle East is on fire. And when it comes to law enforcement, Joe Biden has gone beyond reckless. He’s given parole to a million people on the basis of a restrictive parole law,” Graham said.

Graham cited the murder of Laken Riley, a 22-year-old nursing student who was found beaten to death after jogging on the University of Georgia campus in February. Authorities said the Augusta University student died of blunt force trauma to the head during an encounter with undocumented immigrant Jose Antonio Ibarra.

“The killer of Laken Riley was released on parole because we didn’t have capacity in El Paso. He was released under parole law because we were at capacity. There’s nothing in the law that says you can release someone because we’re at capacity. And then he killed this woman. And then again. All these women that have been raped and murdered have one thing in common. The people that killed them, raped them, murdered them were in our custody and I believe they were released illegally,” he continued, suggesting Biden could be prosecuted over his border policy.
