The Tennessee Volunteers defeated the Texas A&M Aggies 6-5 in Game 3 to claim their first-ever Men’s College World Series title on Monday night.
The Aggies put pressure on the Volunteers in the ninth inning, scoring with two outs, but Tennessee pitcher Aaron Combs struck out infielder Ted Burton to end the game.

Tennessee opened the game with a home run by Christian Moore, sending Tennessee fans in Omaha to their feet, and Peyton Manning and Morgan Warren were seen embracing in victory poses.
Texas A&M tied the game in the second inning when Gavin Grahovac singled to drive in Travis Chestnut. Tennessee responded with a sacrifice fly by Dylan Dreiling and an RBI single by Dean Curley.
Dreiling, who had been a hero in Game 2, hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh, before Cavares Tears’ two-run double made the score 6 to 1. Tennessee was leading the game, but Texas A&M began to fight back in the eighth inning.

They scored two runs in the eighth inning and two in the ninth, leaving Vols fans sweating.
But when Combs struck out Burton, cheers of joy erupted.
Dreiling, Tears, Curley, Hunter Ensley and Blake Burke each contributed two hits to the win, with Ensley surprising the crowd by allowing a home run in the seventh inning but scoring without hitting a home run.
Tennessee’s Xander Sechrist got the start for the Vols. He pitched 5.1 innings and struck out seven batters.
The Volunteers last finished as runner-up in the College World Series finals in 1951, when Oklahoma defeated them, 3-2.

Nearly 73 years later, Tennessee will bring the title back to its hometown of Knoxville.
