Biden ‘Appalled’ by Antisemitic Mob Targeting Los Angeles Synagogue

President Joe Biden said he was “appalled by the scenes” of an anti-Semitic mob targeting the Adas Torah synagogue in the Jewish neighborhood of Pico-Robertson on Sunday.

Biden posted on X Explained He described the situation on Sunday as “dangerous, unconscionable, anti-Semitic and un-American.”

As Breitbart News previously reported, dozens of pro-Palestinian protesters targeted the Adas Torah synagogue on Sunday morning, blocking the synagogue’s entrance and preventing Jews from the community from attending an Israeli real estate event.

“I am appalled by the scenes outside Adas Torah Synagogue in Los Angeles,” Biden wrote. “The intimidation of Jewish people is dangerous, reprehensible, anti-Semitic and un-American.”

“Americans have a right to peaceful protest,” Biden added, “but blocking access to places of worship and engaging in violence is simply not acceptable.”

Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officers showed up in riot gear after an argument between pro-Palestinian protesters and counter-protesters escalated into violence, ABC7 News reported. report.

The Los Angeles Police Department saw Pro-Palestinian protesters clashed with counter-protesters before blocking Pico Boulevard in front of the synagogue.

In response to the anti-Semitic mob that targeted the Adas Torah synagogue, several other lawmakers issued statements condemning the actions of pro-Palestinian protesters as anti-Semitic.

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) stated In his post, X argued that “blocking people from entering a synagogue” was not a protest, but “simply anti-Semitism.”

“Blocking entry to synagogues. Indiscriminate attacks on Jewish people and their businesses. This is not protest. This is pure anti-Semitism. The horrific violence that occurred on Sunday in Pico Robertson will never be tolerated in California.”

Los Angeles City Council Member Katie Yaroslavsky (Democrat) issued a statement on Sunday calling the “anti-Semitic violence” that took place outside the Adas Torah synagogue “deeply disturbing.”

“The anti-Semitic violence that occurred this afternoon at Pico Robertson would never be tolerated anywhere in Los Angeles, but that it was planned and carried out in front of a synagogue at the heart of Los Angeles’ Jewish community deeply concerns us all,” Yaroslavsky said. “Everyone has the right to protest, and everyone has the right to be safe from terror and violence. We all deserve an explanation for how this situation escalated. That’s why I will be holding community meetings in the coming days, along with Mayor Bass, the Jewish Federation, the LAPD and others. The safety and well-being of our community must be our number one priority.”
