The interview with the national press secretary devolved into a shouting match after Casey Hunt criticized CNN’s Jake Tapper and Dana Bash, leading Hunt to end the interview.
Hunt accused Caroline Leavitt of attacking the CNN host who was scheduled to moderate the first presidential debate between former President Donald Trump and current President Joe Biden.
“Please come on my show and respect my colleagues. That’s it.”
“If you Google Jake Tapper, Donald Trump, you’ll see Jake Tapper consistently…” Leavitt said.
“Ma’am, if you continue to attack my colleagues, I will end this interview,” Hunt interjected. “I want to talk to you about Joe Biden and Donald Trump, who you work for.”
“Yes!” Leavitt replied.
“If you’re here to speak on his behalf, I can continue this conversation,” Hunt continued.
“I am simply stating facts that your colleagues have stated in the past,” Leavitt responded.
“Okay, sorry, I’ll go back to the panel,” Hunt interjected.
“Caroline, you’re welcome to come back anytime to talk about Donald Trump,” Hunt continued, “and Donald Trump will be given equal time with Joe Biden, and they’ll be meeting in Atlanta early next week for the debate.”
The feud at X continues
Mr Hunt appeared shaken by the exchange but later defended his decision on his official social media accounts.
“Please come on my show and respect my colleagues. That’s it. As my track record clearly shows, it doesn’t matter to me which side you’re on.” Said Hunt on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.
Leavitt Fight back From her own account.
“The debate moderator cut off my microphone because I brought up a history of anti-Trump lies,” she wrote. “This proves our point that President Trump will not be treated fairly on Thursday. Yet he intends to take on this 3-on-1 battle to deliver a winning message to the American people — and he will win.”
Leavitt appeared on other shows and podcasts to continue to accuse Tapper of showing bias against Trump.
“CNN is a propaganda network for the Democrats and Joe Biden. They have been spreading endless lies about President Trump,” she said. [the] From the Russia hoax to the Charlottesville lie to the Hunter Biden laptop. They’ve been defending Joe Biden for the last few years.”
