A man was caught on camera abandoning a newborn baby on a boardwalk near a bayou in Harris County, Texas, on June 15, Click2Houston report.
The baby was found around 9 a.m. wrapped in a towel and with its umbilical cord still attached on Casa Martin Drive, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
“The baby was a newborn,” said Sergeant Juan Garcia with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. “The baby’s placenta was still fresh, so he was just born this morning.”

Authorities released security camera footage of the man abandoning the newborn baby. Reports say the suspect is a young Hispanic or white man with light skin and dark hair, wearing a black shirt and what appear to be gray pants.
According to reports, the baby survived because a family member walking along the road discovered him by chance within minutes of being abandoned.
“I was coming back from a walk this morning, it was hot and I was heading home,” said Daniella Fedele, who spotted a towel on the road. “I went closer and looked more closely and noticed a little baby wanting to move its legs. I thought: Is that really a baby I’m looking at? Are my eyes really here?”
Daniella’s husband, Luis Marin, held the baby while she called 911.
“I picked up the baby and he opened his eyes and looked at me,” Malin said. “We made eye contact and I thought, how can this be done?”
“The umbilical cord was still attached, so it just raises so many questions in your mind,” Fedele added.
“We just happened to be there. I think it was God who put us there,” she continued.
Paramedics took the baby to a hospital, said Melissa Langford, a spokeswoman for the Texas Department of Family and Parent Services. Said Click2Houston reported this week that the baby was released from a Houston hospital on Friday evening.
The girl has since been placed in foster care, according to reports.
Detectives are still searching for the man who left the child near the bayou. Anyone with information can provide an anonymous online tip to Crime Stoppers of Houston or call 713-222-TIPS (8477).
