Darrell Gibbs He told WXIN-TV He said he was awakened about 4 a.m. Sunday by six to eight gunshots coming from behind his home in southwest Indianapolis.

Gibbs said three armed men tried to kick open the back door, breaking it down, one of whom was wounded by bullets fired by Gibbs’ son when he returned fire.

“I called 911 on my cell phone, called somebody, called an ambulance, called his grandmother, had her on speaker so he and his girlfriend could talk,” Gibbs continued. “If I saw him walking down the street, I wouldn’t know who he was. I was around him that much.”
Gibbs said the two other suspects fled, getting into a car parked at a nearby church and sped away.
“He thought he’d do well here, but it didn’t work out.”
