Pro-cryptocurrency super PAC FairShake on Wednesday promoted the ouster of Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY), a staunch anti-cryptocurrency lawmaker.
“Jamaal Bowman has long opposed setting clear rules for the cryptocurrency and blockchain industry, but tonight he is looking for a new job,” said Josh Vlast, a spokesman for FairShake and its affiliated super PAC. Said In a statement.
Bowman’s “congressional career will end after one term…Westchester County Mayor George Latimer defeated Bowman on Tuesday night in the most expensive House race in history,” Breitbart News reported Tuesday.
Vlast added that the “cryptocurrency and blockchain community will continue to support candidates who believe in innovation and job creation, and who are willing to work across party lines to get things done.”
Fairshake spent $2 million on advertising against Bowman in the days leading up to Tuesday’s primary.
Tyler Winklevoss, billionaire entrepreneur and founder of cryptocurrency exchange Gemini, responded to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) accusing special interests of allegedly spending $15 million to oust Bowman.

Fox Business reported on Bowman’s anti-cryptocurrency stance:
Bowman recently voted against the House of Representatives’ landmark bill aimed at providing regulatory clarity on digital assets, the Financial Innovation and Technology Act of the 21st Century (FIT 21 Act), which passed the House in May with broad Democratic support, though Bowman was not among them.
He also voted against a bipartisan repeal of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Staff Accounting Bulletin (SAB 121), which imposes onerous requirements on banks seeking to hold digital assets as custody.
Winklevoss and his brother, Cameron Winklevoss, donated $4.9 million to FairShake in 2024, as well as $2 million to former President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign.
Other major crypto companies, including Coinbase, Ripple and venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), have also donated to FairShake.
Trump has promised to become a “cryptocurrency president” if he is re-elected in November.
