Trump tops Biden by 4 points among likely voters in national survey

Former President Trump led President Biden by 4 points among likely voters, according to a new New York Times/Siena College poll.

of voteA poll released Wednesday found that 48% of voters said they would vote for Trump if the two presidents were to face off hypothetically. In the same survey, 44% said they would vote for Biden if the two presidents were to face off hypothetically.

The poll was conducted ahead of Thursday’s debate between Biden and Trump on CNN, the first time the two will go head-to-head since 2020.

In a hypothetical election that included other candidates such as independent Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and the Green Party’s Jill Stein, the Times/Siena poll found Trump garnering 40 percent support among likely voters, while Biden garnered 37 percent.

Kennedy expressed his dissatisfaction last week after CNN announced he would not be appearing at the debate.

“President Biden and President Trump do not want me on the debate stage, and CNN illegally agreed to their demands,” Kennedy said in a statement through his campaign. “President Biden and President Trump’s decision to exclude me from the debate is undemocratic, un-American and cowardly.”

The Times/Siena poll was conducted June 20-25 among 1,226 registered voters. The margin of sampling error is plus or minus 3 percentage points for registered voters and plus or minus 3.2 percentage points for the electorate.
