President Joe Biden (Democrat) appeared on stage Thursday night to debate former President Donald Trump in Atlanta, Georgia, but his voice was hoarse.
When Biden started answer Asked by CNN host Jake Tapper what he would say to voters who feel they are worse off under Biden than under President Trump, Biden replied:
“I have to look at what was left when I became president,” he said, coughing.
“Trump’s legacy to me is the economy was plummeting and he handled the pandemic so poorly. People were dying and he just said, ‘It’s not that serious. Just inject a little bit of bleach in your arm and you’ll be fine,'” he added.
As the president continued to speak, his voice seemed to grow a little hoarse or even lose its tone.
According to Breitbart News, in the debate Biden will “seek to undermine the significant advantage his general election opponent, former Republican President Donald Trump, has built up in recent months.”
This historic debate will kick off an equally monumental general election as it will be the first time in the television era, and the first time since the 19th century, that two presidents will face off on Election Day. It will also be the first time in as many elections that a general election debate will not be organized by the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD). The now-defunct CPD has lost credibility in both parties, and the two campaigns (Team Trump and Team Biden) have negotiated the terms of the debate with CNN and agreed to the rules.
Meanwhile, first lady Jill Biden recently defended her husband’s advanced age while on the campaign trail, Breitbart News reported on June 14.
According to the article, she described him as a “healthy and wise 81-year-old,” adding that “age is a gift.”
An NBC News poll in February found that 89% of Americans are concerned that President Biden is not mentally or physically healthy enough to serve a second term, Breitbart News reported.
