Democrat Donor Reid Hoffman Sticking with Biden After Debate

Democratic megadonor Reid Hoffman doubled down on President Joe Biden after he faced former President Donald Trump in a presidential debate, saying “there is still a good chance Biden can win this election.”

Hoffman, the LinkedIn co-founder, said in an email. Dealt with Democratic voters, politicians and donors have been concerned about Biden’s age and how it affected Thursday night’s presidential debate.

Hoffman acknowledged Biden’s debate performance was “bad,” but said the suggestion to replace Biden was a “bad idea.”

“I’ve received numerous emails in the last 24 hours asking whether we should publicly campaign to urge President Biden to step down following his (very) terrible performance in last night’s debate,” Hoffman wrote. “It has certainly taken a toll on the mood of donors and organizers. Unfortunately, people are seeing Joe’s age, as expressed by his slow movements and speech, more than Donald’s age, as expressed by his dementia.”

Hoffman added that rather than focusing people’s attention on Trump, the debate “exacerbated concerns about Joe.”

Biden appeared confused and frozen during the debate, and his voice was raspy and he spoke in a mumbling voice, while Biden campaign co-chair Mitch Landrieu told NBC News that Biden “had a cold” and “seemed a little off.”

Biden also repeated claims he has already denied, including the fabrication that they were “very fine people” and the false assertion that they were “stupid losers.”

“I think a campaign calling for Biden to step down would be a bad idea for a number of reasons,” Hoffman continued.

Hoffman pointed out several reasons why replacing Biden would be a bad idea.

First, Joe is our candidate. Any decision to step down is up to him and his family. If anything, the Bidens may seek to prove doubters wrong through public efforts. After all, Joe is a staunch fighter.

Second, last night’s debate revealed nothing new about Biden or the dynamics and stakes of this race. I watched Biden’s rally in North Carolina this afternoon, and he was energetic and thoroughly demolished Trump’s hateful rhetoric and lies.

“I wish Biden had shown up like that last night, but that’s Joe Biden’s character,” Hoffman added. “He tends to bounce back and win even when he does poorly.”

Hoffman also noted that MAGA “ruthlessly and immediately rallied together” after a Manhattan jury convicted Trump of 34 counts of first-degree falsifying business records.

“Fourth (and most important), being a good president has little to do with being a good debater,” Hoffman added. “Whether an American president is successful ultimately depends on (a) whether he has the right values, instincts, patriotism, and courage, and (b) whether he has a great team of leaders around him. Biden clearly meets both criteria. Trump is clearly a narcissistic criminal whose aides will either abandon him or go to prison. That’s why when Biden took office, his presidency was a festival of corruption and chaos, and the economy was in ruins.”

Hoffman added that Biden “still has a chance to win this election.”

Breitbart News editor-in-chief Alex Marlow previously revealed that Hoffman and billionaire left-leaning Democratic donor George Soros backed an organization called the Good Information Foundation, which has been accused of meddling in the election.

Before former U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley suspended her presidential campaign, Hoffman said he was funding her campaign in an effort to stop Trump from winning the Republican presidential nomination.
