During Friday’s broadcast of HBO’s “Real Time,” former MSNBC host Chris Matthews said he believes President Joe Biden “thinks there are things going on in his administration that he doesn’t know about, but that’s his problem. He doesn’t know what’s not true,” which is why he can’t effectively blame former President Donald Trump, who is a potential 2024 Republican presidential candidate.
After host Bill Maher said Trump is lying, Matthews said, “Or he’s doing it in a way that the president can’t see through. He said twice last night that Social Security and Medicare go to illegals, undocumented people. That’s not true. That’s not true. They don’t get Social Security. They’re on Social Security, because you have to at least use a name, somebody’s name, to get a job. But you have to pay. You have to pay. But you don’t get your benefits. And Biden didn’t know about that, because he thinks there are things going on in this administration that he doesn’t know about, and that’s his problem. He’s not sure what’s not true. And there have been cases where this guy just made things up.”
