A former friend of First Lady Melania Trump has claimed that President Joe Biden’s poor debate performance was due to bad lighting at CNN.
Former friend Stephanie Winston Wolkoff posted on X:
Nobody had to say a word.
CNN’s carefully considered framing and lighting design effectively conveyed an intended perception of vulnerability and superiority in the visual composition.
Biden was photographed in profile, looking ghostly and pale.
Trump was photographed from the front, but instead of his usual orange hue, his face was a marmalade color.
Biden is a man of honor, integrity, perseverance and determination.
Trump is Trump is Trump.

She then posted two screenshots of Biden to illustrate her point: one of him looking pale at the debate, and another from a rally he spoke at the following day.
She posted the screenshot in response to actress Ellen Barkin, who accused CNN of bias, with Barkin posting: “How is it that no one in the mainstream media has mentioned the obvious bias @CNN has shown on all sides of this debate? I’ve never heard one criticism of the network…it’s truly appalling.”

Most of the criticism of Biden’s performance from pundits on both the right and the left was not that he looked “pale,” but that he seemed unable to finish a thought or sentence and at least once froze — in contrast to Trump, who answered questions coherently and fluently.
Additionally, Biden won a coin toss to choose his spot on stage.
Wolkoff also argued that those moments were due to a “lifelong struggle with stuttering” rather than a “cognitive issue.”
“I’m voting for a man who stutters (a lifelong speech impediment that disrupts the normal flow of speech). “A man whose personality has been destructive, disruptive and unpredictable all his life,” she posted.
President Joe Biden’s speech stumbles are not a cognitive issue, but rather part of a lifelong struggle with stuttering.
