Joe Biden reportedly felt “humiliated” and “lost confidence” after the debate.
He is currently on his way to Camp David to discuss his future as president with his family.
President Joe Biden plans to discuss the future of his reelection campaign with family members at Camp David on Sunday, following Thursday’s nationally televised debate that left many Democrats wondering whether he can defeat former President Donald Trump in November, according to five people familiar with the matter.
…
Although Biden calmed some of his supporters with an impassioned speech at a rally in North Carolina on Friday, a person familiar with his state of mind described him as feeling humiliated, lacking confidence and keenly aware that the physical image of him at the debate — staring into the distance, mouth agape — will live on after his presidency ends, and described the speech as at times rambling, incoherent and hard to understand.
“It’s a mess,” this person said.
Another person familiar with the matter said Biden would ultimately listen to only one adviser.
“The only person who has ultimate influence over him is the first lady,” this person said. “If she decides a change in policy is needed, that will happen.”
After his terrible performance in the debates, Democrats and media figures started talking about replacing Joe Biden.
Following Biden’s performance in the debate, several Democrats, members of the media and voters expressed the view that Biden needs to be replaced, noting that he looked “very weak” and “weak.”
Several top Hollywood donors panicked, issuing an ultimatum to Democrats that they would not give any more money unless Biden “stepped back.”
Other donors reportedly pulled away from Biden after his debate performance.
The day after the presidential debate, Biden acknowledged at a rally in North Carolina that he can no longer “walk as easily,” “talk as smoothly” or “debate as well” as he used to.
