During a routine traffic stop in Santa Rosa, officers got more than they bargained for after a driver appeared to be wearing a “Jason” mask.
According to the Santa Rosa Police Department, just before 10 p.m. Saturday, an officer noticed a gold Toyota Camry with no headlights or taillights.
Police said after stopping the vehicle they discovered the driver was wearing a “Jason” mask.
Police said officers noticed the driver appeared “nervous” and was “sweating profusely.”

Santa Rosa police officers then found an AR-15 style rifle in the back seat, partially concealed by a blanket.
Police said the unloaded gun is an unregistered assault weapon, which is illegal to possess.

The driver, identified as Adonai Efreem, 27, of Santa Rosa, was arrested without incident.
Efreem was booked into the Sonoma County Adult Detention Center on a charge of possession of an assault weapon.

The Santa Rosa Police Special Enforcement Team has been formed to address the rise in illegal firearm possession and gun violence in the city, police said.
