With free agency underway, let’s take a look at three targets the Rangers will have this offseason.
Oliver Ekman Larson
Position: Defenseman | Age: 32
Ekman-Larsson won a Stanley Cup with the Panthers, recording two goals and four assists in 24 playoff games while primarily playing in a bottom-pairing role and quarterbacking the second power-play unit.
The 32-year-old fits the third pairing mold and is likely to be a cost-effective option.
Brenden Dillon
Position: Defenseman | Age: 33
Dillon, who has scored 20 goals in each of the past three seasons, is coming off a strong year in Winnipeg.
He could bring a physical edge to the Rangers’ defensive line and wouldn’t cost too much.
Matt Roy
Position: Defenseman | Age: 29
Roy has been with the Kings for the past six seasons and is under contract for three years with a salary cap hit of $3.15 million.
The 29-year-old, who is one point shy of his career-high of 26 points in 2022-23, would again be a candidate for a cheap transfer.
