Man savagely attacked while cleaning Santa Monica, LA, beach

A good Samaritan was brutally beaten and nearly killed while cleaning up trash on the famous Santa Monica Beach over the weekend.

Georgie Peters, from Venice, had been collecting rubbish from the beach for nearly 20 years, when she was attacked by a young man dressed all in black “like a ninja” at about 6.30pm on Saturday. he told KTLA..

“He could have killed me. The first blow was to my temple, the side of my head, and I was unconscious,” Peters said. “He could have easily killed me that way.”

“He definitely had what looked like a big nose piercing sticking out of his mask. He was odd, but there’s a lot of odd people around here. I don’t care,” Peters said.

“Suddenly I was unconscious and on the ground and the man hit me on the side of my head with a martial arts stick.”

Witnesses later told Peters that an unknown man dressed entirely in black repeatedly punched Peters before fleeing the scene.

A lifeguard on duty who heard the emergency call over the radio told KTLA that the gunman used a bat in his unprovoked attack.

Peters suffered serious injuries as a result of the assault, including broken ribs, a broken collarbone, bruising to the left side of his face and a concussion.

“This guy wasn’t yelling, he wasn’t yelling, he wasn’t crazy,” he said, wondering why he was targeted.

Meanwhile, Peters is determined to keep the beach clean.

“I’m very environmentally conscious and this won’t stop me from going to the beach,” he said. “I’ll just be more careful.”

Santa Monica Police are investigating the incident.
