President Joe Biden blamed his performance in Thursday’s presidential debate on his own international travel schedule before the debate, adding that “I wasn’t very smart.”

“I wasn’t very smart,” Biden said, “I decided to take a couple of trips around the world right before the debate. I didn’t listen to my staff. And I nearly fell asleep onstage.”
Biden did not mention that he returned to the US 12 days before his debate with former President Donald Trump and spent a full week at Camp David preparing for the debate.

“This is an explanation, not an excuse,” Biden added.
Biden appeared confused and frozen during the presidential debate, struggling to get his prepared closing statements straight, and the president’s voice sounded raspy.
The Biden campaign claimed the president had a “cold.”
Biden also brought up several false claims that have already been debunked, including the fabrication that they are “very fine people” and the claim that they are “stupid losers.”
Biden’s debate performance has caused panic among media members, Democrats, donors and voters, raising doubts about whether Biden can serve another term as president and sparking suggestions to replace him on the ballot.
While Democrats such as former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pennsylvania) continue to support Biden, Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-Texas) became the first Democrat to announce that Biden should withdraw from the presidential race.
