Former President Donald Trump is beating President-elect Joe Biden in New Jersey, according to a poll released Wednesday.
Pole carried out A survey by the Republican super PAC United 2024 showed Trump leading Biden, but within the poll’s margin of error.
Trump leads Biden 43% to 41% in the head-to-head vote, but when other candidates are considered, including Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who received 8% support, and Green Party candidate Jill Stein, who received 3%, Trump and Biden are tied at 38%.
Matt Mowers, a senior strategist at United 2024, said the survey shows that “voters are unhappy with the Biden-Harris administration and, as a result, are ready to punish lower-ranking Democrats who uniformly support the administration.”
“Joe Biden’s poor performance among voters will spill over to lower-ranked candidates,” Moises added.
Rep. Andy Kim (D-N.J.), a three-term representative of southern New Jersey’s 3rd Congressional District, leads his Republican opponent, Mr. Bashaw, 35% to 33%. Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.), who is currently facing a federal corruption trial, has 6% support.
Excluding Menendez, Kim leads Bashaw 41 to 39 percent.
The United 2024 poll also found that New Jersey voters prefer an outsider over someone with Washington, D.C. experience.
Asked to split themselves into two groups, 54% said open borders, crime and inflation were the biggest influences, while 47% said their policies were focused on defeating the former president.
“The results of this poll highlight a significant shift in voter sentiment toward Republican candidates in New Jersey,” Mowers said. “The numbers favorable to Donald Trump and Curtis Bashaw show that investing in New Jersey provides a clear path to victory in November’s election.”
A poll released last week showed Kim leading Bashaw by six points.
The Garden State has not supported a Republican presidential candidate since 1988 and has not elected a Republican to the Senate since 1972.
United 2024 conducted the poll of 477 registered voters on July 1. The margin of error is 4.5 percentage points.
