Carl Bernstein on Biden’s 15-20 ‘episodes’ of decline: Letters

Issue: Carl Bernstein’s comments about President Biden’s 15-20 cognitive declines.

Once-respected journalist Carl Bernstein is now trying to save his own reputation by making it clear to the public that President Biden’s weaknesses have been there for a while ( “No Longer Denyable,” July 3).

Biden’s weakness should have been obvious even before Bernstein cited 15-20 incidents from last year alone, only to make them public when it was too late now. At one point, Bernstein turned his back on the street smarts that made his legacy, which is now tarnished forever.

How can Americans support Biden when they have seen so much cognitive and physical decline?

The media’s never-ending excuses are puzzling and disappointing, because Biden’s long list of failures cannot be ignored and must be examined.

Some people may not like former President Donald Trump, but he can make presidential decisions, and that’s what matters.

It is painfully obvious that President Biden is suffering from cognitive decline.

This raises the question, “Who’s in charge?” The answer is the “Deep State.”

Voters must decide whether four more years of Biden’s presidency is in our country’s best interest.

Trump warned Americans during the 2020 debates about Biden’s deteriorating mental health, and we now know that he was right.

When Trump was president, Democrats and their allies pushed for him to undergo a mental health evaluation and even discussed removing him from office using the 25th Amendment procedure that allows for the removal of a president who is unfit for office.

Perhaps those same Democrats should invoke the same constitutional provision to remove Biden from office.

If Trump truly poses a threat to American democracy, why did Democrats allow President Biden to run again in the first place?

Biden said in 2020 that he would be fine with serving just one term. Why the change of tune? Allowing Biden to continue participating in presidential debates is tantamount to elder abuse.

I don’t have a problem with age, but I do have a problem with the fact that there are people who have been in politics for over 50 years and yet have declining cognitive abilities.

Any bright thinking American should emerge from the June 27 debate extremely concerned about the dangers of having an old man running the country in an era of inflation, repeated wars and border incursions of immigrants.

Americans should also not forget the Democratic politicians who lied about Biden’s mental health and put us all at risk because of their desire to hold on to power.

Anyone with even a modicum of objectivity noticed Biden’s cognitive decline before the debate even began, and Democrats blundered by not offering an alternative.

This raises the question: who is really running our government?

Either way, Democrats will reap what they sowed in November, and the American people will reap the benefits.

No one was under any illusions about President Biden’s shortcomings. The debate performance itself was not the only indicator.

Previously, despite Biden having 50 years of public service, he had to have a number of aides prepare him for a presidential debate for a week, and his wife Jill had to lead him offstage, much like Italy’s Giorgia Meloni, who led Biden onstage at the G7 photo op earlier this year. Everyone knows Biden can’t manage his daily routine himself.

But the most important question is, “Who’s running the store?” Because it’s not Joe Biden, who has been in the spotlight for the last few years.
