Ahead of the British Grand Prix, the official title of the upcoming feature film focusing on the world of Formula 1, starring Brad Pitt and produced in part by Lewis Hamilton, has been announced.
And that gets straight to the point.
F1 Titled The 2025 Apex Grand Prix, the feature film will be released worldwide on June 25, 2025, followed by a US release two days later. The film stars Pitt as a veteran driver for APXGP, a fictional team on the F1 grid. Damson Idris stars as Pitt’s teammate at APXGP.
Filming for the movie is still ongoing, with scenes from this weekend’s British Grand Prix being shot at the historic Silverstone Circuit. Scenes have been shot at numerous Grands Prix during the 2023 F1 season, including footage shot at Silverstone, the Hungaroring, Spa-Francorchamps, Circuit Zandvoort, the Las Vegas Strip Circuit and the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi.
During the 2024 F1 season, F1 Filming has been (or is scheduled to be) done at Suzuka Circuit, Silverstone, the Hungaroring, Spa-Francorchamps, the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City, the Las Vegas Strip Circuit and the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi.
It was also announced on Friday that a teaser trailer for the film will be released ahead of Sunday’s British Grand Prix.
Filming took place last season during the British Grand Prix, with Pitt and Idris also taking part in the drivers’ meeting. Hamilton said: FIA press conferenceand talked about the support from the sports world and how the filmmakers worked to deliver an “authentic” experience.
“Yes, I’m really grateful. [Formula 1]”I don’t know if this would have been possible over 10 years ago under the previous management. They probably wouldn’t have seen this as an important step for the growth of the sport.” Hamilton said a year ago.“But we’ve already seen the incredible success and impact the Netflix show has had, and I think this show will take it to new heights even more. As you all already know, I think there are so many people around the world who are really excited about the sport and want to learn more. And the fact that Brad will be appearing alongside all of the original characters who are actually on the gridiron is super cool.”
“I’m pretty confident that our cameras are going to be much better than what you see on TV. I’ve seen all the footage of the camera positions. Joe and I have been working hard to get the best camera positions possible. The frame rate will be different. It will look faster. I think it will look faster than what you see on TV because I think that has to do with the frame rate that we need. But Joe is a great director. I think you’ve already seen what he’s done with the fighter jets. [Top Gun:] MaverickThink about what he did with jet dogfights. It was epic. And bringing that technology and perspective to our world,
“I think it’s going to be great.”
And now I know the title.
