Angel Reese has added a new piece to her repertoire.
Reese had 27 points and 10 rebounds in the Chicago Sky’s 88-84 win over the Storm on Friday night in Seattle, extending her double-double streak to 12 games, tying her with Candace Parker for the WNBA record.
Interestingly, Reese made both of his 3-point attempts, his first of the season after going 0-for-4 from the field in previous games.
Reese made just five 3-pointers total during his four years of college basketball at Maryland and Louisiana State.
“This is my job. All I needed was the opportunity,” Reese said. He spoke to reporters after Friday’s game..
“Coming to Chicago and being a stretch four was a [power forward]And then having my coaches and my teammates surrounding me with confidence and telling me when to shoot. You know a lot of times in games I don’t shoot, but in terms of my own confidence, I know I can shoot and I can be successful because I do it in practice. I do it in my workouts.
“But knowing I can make shots after tonight’s game gives me more confidence going into the games ahead.”
Chennedi Carter was also dominant in the Sky’s win over the Storm, scoring 33 points on 15-of-24 field goal attempts.
Reese’s longtime rival, Caitlin Clark, remains the favorite to win WNBA Rookie of the Year, but Reese has been closing the gap in recent weeks.
According to the latest odds from FanDuel, Clark is favored at -320, with Reese at +210.
There was a time a few weeks ago when Reese was +2600 and Clark was -1000.

Earlier this week, it was announced that Reese and Clark will be teammates in the WNBA All-Star Game.
“I don’t think I’ve ever been teammates with her, even with USA Basketball or anything like that,” Clark told reporters on Tuesday.
“I know everybody’s excited, but I don’t want it to take away from the excitement of everybody else. This is a huge accomplishment for the entire U.S. team and the entire WNBA team. Everybody deserves the same accolades.”
“I don’t want to ruin all of that and just be the focus of All-Star Weekend, because that wouldn’t be fair to them, and it’s obviously a very hard thing to accomplish. So the best way we can celebrate all of them would be great and I’m obviously going to savor the experience, because who knows if we’ll ever be able to be there again. It’s definitely going to be fun for all of us.”
