New York will see some relief from the heat and humidity over the next few days, but temperatures will soar across the West, with several days of high temperatures challenging records across the region and possibly setting a new all-time high in the “hottest place on Earth.”
“Temperatures in New York will be a few degrees above normal over the next few days, but that will pale in comparison to the record-breaking temperatures we’re seeing out West,” AccuWeather forecaster Alex DaSilva told The Post.
On Friday, Palm Springs, California, broke the record with a temperature of 123 degrees Fahrenheit, beating the previous record by one degree. On the same day, Death Valley recorded 127 degrees Fahrenheit, beating the previous record by five degrees.
“These situations can be extremely dangerous and potentially deadly if not taken seriously.” the National Weather Service warned.
next week, Las Vegas Fox Weather forecaster Cody Blood said there’s a chance the temperature could tie or surpass the all-time high of 117 degrees for the sixth consecutive day.
“Las Vegas is setting new all-time records every day through Friday,” he explained.

Record heat is expected in Seattle through the beginning of this week, making it dangerously hot for Seattle and other parts of Western Washington without air conditioning.

The heat wave will weaken by the weekend as it moves east. Until then, temperatures in New York are expected to be in the mid- to upper 80s Fahrenheit with occasional rain showers to help blow away the humidity.
