Arch Manning is expected to back up Quinn Ewers at Texas for the second straight season, raising concerns that he may transfer if he doesn’t get playing time.
Manning has made it clear he will remain with the Longhorns.

“It’s tough because I want to be outside playing with my boys,” he said in an interview. Athletic. “but [it came down to] “I realized there was no other place I wanted to go. It was my dream to play in Texas. I’m going to work my way through it and one day I’m going to play there.”
Manning turned heads in this year’s spring game, completing 19 of 25 passes for 355 yards and three touchdowns, including a 75-yard touchdown pass to DeAndre Moore.
Ewers told the outlet he believes Manning understands Texas will best prepare him for the NFL.

“I think what he’s done shows that he certainly has the perseverance,” Ewers added. “I know it’s tough, because when I went to Ohio State, it was obviously tough to sit behind somebody.”
Manning appeared in a November game against Texas Tech, completing 2 of 5 passes for 30 yards, and also appeared in the Big 12 Championship game against Oklahoma State but did not throw a pass.
If Manning decides to stay for his senior year, Texas will have a set quarterback situation for at least the next three seasons.
Ewers led Texas to a 12-2 season but lost to Washington in the Sugar Bowl.
