Nikki Haley ‘Releases’ Delegates to Trump ahead of Convention

Former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley has ceded her delegates to former President Donald Trump ahead of next week’s Republican National Convention.

Haley, who dropped out of the Republican presidential primary in March, won 97 delegates and reportedly urged voters to vote for Trump at the party’s convention. POLITICOThe former South Carolina governor said the convention is a “moment for Republican unity.”

“The nominating convention is a time for Republican unity,” Haley said in a statement. “Joe Biden is incapable of serving a second term and Kamala Harris would be a disaster for America. We need a president who will hold our enemies accountable, secure our border, reduce our debt, and get our economy back on track.”

Haley added that she was encouraging “delegates to support Trump” at the convention.

Haley said in May that she planned to vote for Trump in the next presidential election, adding that while “Trump wasn’t perfect” when it came to certain policies on the border or supporting “capitalism and freedom,” President Joe Biden “has been a disaster.”

Haley’s spokeswoman, Cheney Denton, told the outlet that Ms Haley had been “not invited” to the convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, but that she was “okay with that.”

“Trump deserves the convention he wants,” Denton told the outlet. “She has made it clear she will be voting for Trump and wishes him well.”
