Argentina is trying to disparage Drake by quoting rival Kendrick Lamar.
The Canadian rapper bet $300,000 on his country beating the defending Copa America and World Cup champions in Tuesday night’s Copa America semi-final, hoping to win $2.88 million.
However, after Messi and Canada’s 2-0 victory, the national team’s X account mocked Drake’s outlandish bet.
“Not with us, not with us,” the account captioned the tweet, along with a photo of the team celebrating with “Not with us” written above them in a group hug.
“Not Like Us” was the title of a diss track released by Kendrick Lamar in May, aimed at upsetting and embarrassing Drake.
The song has been played 115 million times on Lamar’s YouTube page and streamed nearly 500 million times on Spotify.
Perhaps Drake thought Canada had a chance after Argentina narrowly beat Ecuador in a penalty shootout in the quarterfinals.
Whatever the reason, Drake was sadly wrong.
The win saw Argentina reach their fourth Copa final in five tournaments and demonstrated just how dangerous Messi still is at 37.
Although Messi is far from being one of the fastest players on the pitch, he used his brilliant reading of the game and precision passing throughout the match to lead his team to victory.
His second goal of the match was his 109th international goal in 186 appearances. According to the Associated Press.
Argentina has been the all-around powerhouse in the tournament and demonstrated why they are the unanimous favourites to win.
They have scored eight goals in five games and conceded just one.
Argentina will face the winner of Wednesday’s 8pm ET match between Uruguay and Colombia in the final on Sunday at 8pm ET.
