Biden Must Drop Out, He Can’t Win

Rep. Jim Himes, D-Conn., said Thursday on CNN’s “The Source” that he is calling for President Joe Biden to drop out of the presidential race because he can’t win.

“The answer, for me, to not have this hard feeling tonight is because I don’t see the trajectory. I don’t see the numbers,” Himes said.

Moderator Caitlin Collins asked, “Do you think Joe Biden would lose to Donald Trump if he went head to head?”

“All I can do at this point is look at the numbers, no president has ever won with 37 percent approval. Look at the battleground states, because this isn’t an election that’s going to be decided by five or six states. You look at the various polls, and the president is not ahead in any of those states,” Himes said.

“What’s the trajectory going to be? Imagine three months from now, we’re going to see another debate-like performance, and do we want to take that risk? I don’t think so,” he said.

He added: “He’s a top 10 president. Why gamble with that legacy — a top 10 American president, the legacy of Lyndon B. Johnson as a transformative man — and bet that he might be the guy who may have handed the country over to a tyrant for years.”
