Passengers on an American Airlines flight were forced to evacuate after a laptop in their carry-on luggage apparently caught fire.
American Airlines Flight 2045, traveling from San Francisco to Miami, was quickly evacuated early Friday afternoon using both emergency slides and a jet bridge, according to a statement from American Airlines to Fox News Digital.

After passengers were safely evacuated to the terminal, the San Francisco Fire Department was called to the scene and extinguished the source of the smoke.

“Three minor injuries were reported during the evacuation, one of whom required medical evacuation,” the San Francisco Fire Department said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

“During boarding of American Airlines Flight 2045 from San Francisco (SFO) to Miami (MIA), a passenger reported smoke coming from a bag. A flight attendant quickly removed the bag and all passengers evacuated the aircraft,” American Airlines said in a statement.

It is unclear whether the Airbus A321 suffered any damage as a result of the incident.

“American Airlines thanks the flight crew for their professionalism and apologizes to customers for any inconvenience caused,” the airline said.
