Trump invites Biden to take cognitive tests together: 'We’ll be a team'

Former President Trump on Friday again urged President Biden to undergo cognitive testing and said he would accompany him.

“Joe should get cognitive testing right away, and I’ll go with him and get tested,” Trump said. I wrote in the post On Truth Social: “For the first time, we are a team and we are acting for our country…”

Biden has faced intense scrutiny in recent weeks about his age, mental health and ability to serve another four years in the White House if re-elected in November. After a poor performance in last month’s debate with Trump, where he lacked energy and stumbled over words, a growing number of Democrats have called for the president to drop out of the race.

Others, including Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta, have also called for Trump to undergo cognitive testing.

Even before the presidential debate, Trump had repeatedly called on Biden to take a cognitive assessment, with the former president previously bragging about getting a perfect score on the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA).

Gupta, It was pointed out in a recent editorialBut MoCA said it “does not match the level of cognitive testing that the medical experts I have spoken to would like Biden to undergo.”

The presumptive Republican nominee also voiced support for requiring candidates to take cognitive ability tests in the future.

“And going forward, all presidential candidates, regardless of age, should be required to take cognitive and aptitude tests!!!” he wrote.

Former Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley, who suspended her campaign in March and handed over her delegates to the former president earlier this week, has proposed a similar requirement based on a candidate’s age.

“We seriously need to look at the age of the people who are running this country and understand if that’s what we want,” she said at the time.

Biden has repeatedly said the rigors of the presidency are enough of a test and has rejected calls to take a cognitive test. He has also insisted he intends to continue campaigning and dismissed the debate as a “bad episode.”

“Look, I take cognitive tests every day. I take them every day, everything I do,” Biden told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos in his first television interview since the debate.
