Biden has insisted he will remain in the race despite calls from media pundits, members of his own party and late-night TV hosts who are particularly sympathetic to the Democratic president.
Late-night hosts like Stephen Colbert and Seth Meyers have offered up some scathing mockery of the president this week. Here are five of the most notable examples.
Colbert talks about Biden’s debate performance: “He would have done just as well as Lincoln did…if he could have been dug up.”
Colbert, one of Biden’s biggest media sycophants and a Biden fundraiser host, took the week after the presidential debate off.“Late Show” On Monday, he slammed Biden’s performance and the administration’s response after the debate.
“This cut a year of my life short,” Colbert lamented to his CBS audience on Monday night, blasting Biden’s recent claim that his debate performance was simply a “bad episode.”
Colbert went on to criticize Biden’s dismal performance throughout his 11-minute monologue.

“All Joe had to do going into the debate was ease people’s fears that he was too old. But Biden’s insecurities allowed Trump to get away with 90 minutes of lies, racism and the odd golfing brag. That’s why a lot of people are saying this was the worst debate performance ever,” Colbert said.

“But I don’t think that’s fair. I think Biden debated as well as Abraham Lincoln if we dug into it now,” he added.
Colbert pokes fun at Biden with Dr. Seuss-style rhymes
Colbert too On Wednesday, he read from a mock book titled “Oh The Places For Joe!” and asked, “Is he mentally healthy?” The late-night host read multiple passages from the book, which is a parody of the Dr. Seuss book “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!”
“Can he finish the term?” Colbert read. “Can he beat RFK, with his wormy brain? Just ask, just ask, this guy loves to talk, as long as you ask before 8 o’clock.”

The description of the parody book reads, “Join Joe Biden and explore the incredible world outside the Oval Office!”
“Here’s the thing,” Colbert said. “Maybe Biden doesn’t win. Or maybe he’s the only one who can win. I don’t know what the right answer is, and I’m not alone in that belief.”
Meyers accuses Biden of not taking Trump’s threats seriously
The host of NBC’s “Late Night” took a more serious tone on Monday, scolding the president for the way he tried to convince the public after last month’s debate that he was qualified to run for office.
Meyers specifically focused on comments Biden made in a post-debate interview with ABC News, in which he told George Stephanopoulos he would be happy with the election results even if he lost, as long as he “gave it his all.”

“No!” Myers yelled after playing the video, adding, “Going all in is what nursing home salsa lessons are all about.” This shows Biden doesn’t understand the negative impact a second term for former President Trump would have, Myers said.
“This isn’t about how you feel,” Myers said, “this is about how your constituents feel. If you truly believe American democracy is at stake, and it is, then you must act accordingly.”
Maher urged Biden to step down and predicted a Trump victory, saying failure to do so would do “great damage” to the country.
“You can’t claim to be the last bastion against fascism and then plan to ‘sleep more,'” he continued. “If you think this is serious, you need to act as if it is serious, because it is serious.”
Stewart accuses Democrats and the White House of ‘spin’ on the debate
Jon Stewart, who returned to host Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show,” has been critical of Biden in recent months, but his frustration with the president and his administration has intensified in the weeks since the debate.
He blamed Democrats and the White House for allowing what he described as a “shocking display of cognitive impairment” at the debate.

On Monday’s show, Stewart played a selection of clips of Biden in which the president “pauses” to read from a teleprompter and asks to “repeat that line” and also has some hazy recollections, including a scene in which he claims to have spoken with a long-deceased former French president.
“The bottom line is that for a campaign built on honesty and decency, the coverage of the debates has been patently fake and the journey to redemption has not gone particularly well,” Stewart said.

He also described Biden’s performance and his inability to express his thoughts and words as “astonishing,” adding that he “couldn’t believe what I was seeing.”
He concluded: “I’m by no means saying Biden should back down, but can’t we stress test this nominee? Can’t we start a conversation? Do we understand that this is an opportunity? Do we understand how desperately Americans are for a break from this choice of megalomaniacs and stifling gerontocracy, for a hint of inspiration and leadership? It’s crushing our spirits.”
Fallon repeatedly mocked Biden’s age
Jimmy Fallon repeatedly mentioned ongoing concerns about Biden’s fitness to serve as president during multiple monologues on “The Tonight Show” this week.
“We’re still experiencing extreme heat across the country,” he said. “Of course, in this heat you have to be concerned about the well-being of your seniors, which is why the phones at the White House have been ringing off the hook.”
“I’m not saying it’s chaotic, but right now the Biden campaign office feels like The Bear’s kitchen: ‘We’re late, we’re late, we’re late, we’re so far behind,'” he added. “Yes, Democrats are struggling with whether to break with Biden or hang on.”

“Biden’s staff did a really good job,” he joked. “His staff started to get worried when he had to have ice cream cut for him.”
