Democrats and Never Trumpers have condemned Saturday’s assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.
Gunfire rang out while former President Donald Trump was speaking at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, Breitbart News reported. A single bullet appeared to strike Trump, but the Secret Service later said the president was alive and recovering from the shooting.
Democrats, including Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), and Representative Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif., former Speaker of the House), strongly condemned the violence and sent their best wishes to former President Donald Trump. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) also condemned the violence.
Political violence is totally unacceptable.
We pray for a speedy recovery for Donald Trump and anyone else who may have been injured.

As of press time, President Biden has yet to issue a statement, but initial reports indicated he was at the church at the time of the shooting and may have been briefed on the situation. The identity and motive of the shooter have not been confirmed.
