‘Absolutely A Miracle’: Doctor Says Trump’s Response To Assassination Attempt Is ‘Sign Of Great Recovery’

Dr. Mark Siegel argued Monday that former President Donald Trump’s reaction to the assassination attempt shows he is in very good health and has what it takes to be a leader.

Trump was the target of an assassination attempt at a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, when a bullet grazed his ear and left him bleeding. On “Fox & Friends,” Siegel said Trump’s immediate reaction after the shooting and his behavior in the hours that followed spoke to his “health” and that’s what “we need in a leader.” (RELATED: ‘Luckiest Motherfucker’: Bill Maher Says It ‘Doesn’t Matter’ Who Democrats Run After Trump Assassination Attempt)

“It’s a miracle, really, because he never leaves the crowd. He’s always looking at the crowd. He happens to look around at the Border Patrol, and it just brushes past him. When he falls to the ground, it shows the agility and quick reaction time you need in a leader,” Siegel told host Ainsley Earhardt. “And then he stands up, pumps his fist in the air and says, ‘Fight.’ See? This is about the fight-or-flight mechanism. It’s a response that’s deeply ingrained in the brain. Fight or flight. He’s clearly fighting. And that’s another thing we need.”

“He has since returned home, was released from the hospital incredibly quickly, and has been busy reaching out to those injured in the hospital, to poor Corey who passed away, and to his family,” Siegel continued. “He’s concerned about his children. All of this is a testament to an incredible recovery, good health, and above all, courage. Ainsley, you have a choice: fear or courage. He is demonstrating courage.”

The man killed by a gunman during the rally was a 50-year-old crowd member named Cory Comperatore, his sister, wife and daughters posted. Tribute Social Media for Buffalo Township’s Former Volunteer Fire Chief mediaComperatore was at the rally when she shielded and rescued her two daughters from the gunfire of 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks.

“I want to thank the United States Secret Service and all law enforcement for their swift response to the shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania,” Trump wrote in a post after the incident. “Most importantly, I want to express my condolences to the families of those who lost their lives at the rally and those who were seriously injured. I can’t believe something like this could happen in our country.”
