Donald Trump Jr. on Monday praised his friend and ally, Sen. J.D. Vance, an Ohio Republican, after former President Trump selected him as his running mate in the 2024 presidential election.
Trump Jr. claimed Vance, a Yale Law School graduate who has been a vocal defender of the former president on television, would help his father “build his case” against Democrats in the run up to the November election.
“I think he’s a great choice. I think he’s a great person with a great resume in business and in life. I think he’ll be a great person to bring this country together,” Trump Jr. told CNN’s Caitlin Collins on the convention floor, broadcast by the network.
“I’ve seen him on TV, I’ve seen the lawsuits against the Democrats, and I don’t think there’s anybody who can speak as clearly as he can, and I think his record and his background will really help where it’s needed from an Electoral College standpoint,” Trump Jr. added.
Speculation that Vance could be chosen as former President Trump’s running mate grew last week after his friend, Donald Trump Jr., announced he would speak at the Republican National Convention this week ahead of the vice presidential selection process.
Trump Jr. also on Friday Re-upload A video from Vance’s 2022 Senate campaign launch, as he seeks to reintroduce the Ohio Republican to his supporters on the eve of the convention.
Trump’s son has previously suggested he is supporting Vance as the next presidential candidate, saying on a recent podcast, “As you all know, I’ve been a supporter of J.D. Vance in some ways.”
