During an interview with Breitbart News Washington Bureau Chief Matthew Boyle on the first day of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Chris LaCivita, a senior advisor to President Trump, discussed former President Donald Trump’s path to victory, noting that if the election were held today, he would win more than 300 electoral votes.
LaCivita, who also works as chief of staff for the convention along with Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Whatley and Co-Chair Lara Trump, noted that the convention focuses on America’s forgotten men and women, and that ordinary Americans outnumber sophisticated politicians in the speakers, which in itself pretty much sums up the Trump phenomenon.
“It’s a very different approach, but I think it’s very representative of President Trump,” LaCivita said, discussing Trump’s winning strategy.
“President Trump makes it so easy. I mean, he sets the tone and the message so it’s really easy to execute,” he said, bragging about the team he has around Trump before making some very bold statements.
“If the election were held today, we would have over 300 electoral votes, and that doesn’t include, you know, New Mexico, Virginia, Minnesota, states where the outcome is so close that it’s impossible to know,” he said, noting that President Joe Biden and Democrats only have one path to victory, while there are roughly 20 possible paths to victory.
“That’s the pure definition of offense and defense, so we’re just going to keep working to expand the map,” LaCivita said, mocking the Biden campaign for thinking states like Florida could be swing states early in the campaign.
“We’re quietly telling ourselves, let’s just keep quiet and let these idiots spend tens of millions of dollars and let it go while they think they can actually win,” he said, noting that that was never true, Florida was never on the ballot, but they then tried to convince everyone that North Carolina was on the ballot.
“I say that because they’re literally throwing spaghetti at the wall and hoping it sticks. So they’re running out of options. They’re spending over $150 million on television, campaigns and affiliates,” he said. “We haven’t spent a cent.”
Boyle and LaCivita discussed Trump’s plans to involve traditionally Democratic states and said the Trump campaign and the Republican National Committee are now on the same page and able to combine resources.
“It was a little controversial at first because it was really unprecedented, but it ended up being one of the best decisions President Trump has ever made. It allowed us to consolidate our resources and refocus our work with many of our outside group partners who are doing this every day, not just once every four years,” he explained, comparing the operation to the situation in 2016, when it was the “old system” way of doing things. Those days are over.
LaCivita said that ultimately praying for Trump is the “single most important thing” people can do, but he also encouraged people to go to the polls and urge others to do the same.
“It may not seem like a big deal to ask the average person to donate 10 people, but it’s not. Some people might think if someone donates $35 that’s not enough, but what if 100,000 people donated $35 each? Right. I mean, that would be really awesome because it could change the world,” he added.
