Republican National Convention Prays for Freedom for Israeli Hostages

The Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, opened with several prayers on Monday, including a special one for the Israeli hostages being held by Hamas in Gaza.

Lord, we pray for the peace of Your eternal city, Jerusalem, and for all the descendants of Abraham. We remember and pray for the release of the hostages who have been kidnapped and cruelly and held against their will. Lord, please keep them before Your eyes and hasten the day of their release.

There are said to be as many as 120 hostages still held in Gaza, perhaps half of whom are still alive and negotiations are ongoing.

The term “descendants of Abraham” can also refer to peace between Jews and Muslims, who are both believed to be descendants of Abraham, Jews through Isaac and Muslims through Ishmael.

Other prayers quoting Scripture were offered, and the crowd was astounded by the convention’s bold display of faith.

Sen. Tim Scott (R-South Carolina) also took to the stage in a moving speech, calling for faith as he recalled the “miracle” that former President Donald Trump survived Saturday’s assassination attempt and how the “lion” rose up and “roared.”
