President Joe Biden said in an interview with NBC News on Monday that he will not debate any more Republican 2024 presidential candidates with former President Donald Trump beyond the one already scheduled for September, saying, “I want to tell the American people, I’m in full control of my faculties, I don’t need notes, [teleprompter]I’m available to go out and answer any questions.”
“Mr. Trump said his idea was to give you a chance to redeem yourself – to have another debate,” NBC Nightly News host Lester Holt said.
Biden interjected, saying they planned to hold another one in September.
Holt then asked, “Can we try that in the next few weeks?”
“When we agree to have a debate, we’re going to have a debate. We’re going to have a debate in September,” Biden replied.
Holt continued, “But what if you had the opportunity to do it again between now and then? Would you want to get back on a horse?”
“I’m on a horse. Where have you been? I’ve got 22 major events, attracting thousands of people, a lot going on. I’m on a horse. What I’m doing is going out and telling the American people, I’m in control of every capacity, no memos needed, no questions asked,” Biden said. [teleprompter]”I can go out and answer any question. When NATO came to town, I stood there for an hour answering questions.”
