In an interview with ABC News on July 15, Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle said that police were on the roof of the building where the would-be assassin opened fire on Donald Trump.
Cheatle Said ABC News reported that the compound where the would-be assassins were stationed would have been guarded by local law enforcement officers who worked in liaison with the Secret Service to provide border control.
ABC News reported that “local authorities were tasked with securing the building where the suspect opened fire before being eliminated by Secret Service snipers.”
Cheatle also suggested that police were in the building where the would-be assassin opened fire on Donald Trump.
She said:
In this particular instance, we shared support for that particular location, the Secret Service was in charge of the inner perimeter, and then we asked our local counterparts for support on the perimeter, we had local police in that building, we had local police in that area that were in charge of the perimeter of the building.
Sheetal’s comments about the practice of “sharing support” with entities outside the Secret Service echo those of sources who spoke to Breitbart News and criticized the Secret Service’s complimentary approach to protection practices.
Associated Press report“A local police officer climbed onto the roof and encountered Crooks. Crooks pointed a rifle at the officer. The officer climbed down the ladder and retreated, at which point Crooks immediately fired at Trump…”
Cheatle said he took responsibility but had no plans to resign.
