Comedian Bill Maher, who has been warning for months that President Biden cannot beat former President Trump, now thinks there’s “no chance” he will end up as the Democratic nominee.

“It doesn’t have to be a catastrophe. There’s still time,” the “Real Time” host said. Said “It almost doesn’t matter who it is, just that it’s someone new. The more we don’t know about that person, the better,” The Rubin Report said in the episode released Tuesday.

“We can win this election if we elect every moderate person under 100 with a D in their name. Give us a choice,” he told Democrats.

Despite Biden’s determination to continue the campaign, Maher predicted there was “no chance” the president would become the nominee. “The pressure is going to continue to build,” he said. “I’m pretty confident he’s not going to be the nominee.”

Biden’s dismal performance in last month’s debate increased scrutiny of his fitness for the presidency and intensified concerns within Democrats about whether he could beat his Republican rival.

Biden has repeatedly stated his intention to continue the campaign.

“Fourteen million people elected me to be the Democratic nominee, OK?,” Biden told NBC’s Lester Holt during an interview from the White House on Monday. “I’m going to listen to them.”

On Rubin’s podcast, Maher made it clear that he believes Biden is too old to run for president, but that he doesn’t agree with the claim that he has dementia.

“He’s terrible in public, he’s certainly terrible when he’s pressured by his stutter and his age,” Rubin said, but Biden “has not lost his mind.”

While you can’t expect the 81-year-old president to “run a marathon,” he said, “he can think clearly from a chair.”

“To think otherwise is to go to another pointlessly, contrived, stupidly extreme,” he told Rubin, who disagreed. “You’re just hating that aspect of it and not getting to the real place where this actually is.”

Maher also believes the US will be fine under Biden’s leadership in times of crisis.

“Yes, believe me, he is sane and can make the right decisions. He’s not crazy, but he shouldn’t be president. This is a day-to-day job,” he said.

“But do I fear that in a crisis we’re going to have some crazy lunatic? No, I’m not,” he said of Trump.

The podcast appears to have been recorded before the shooting at a Trump campaign rally on Saturday.

The gunman killed rally attendees Corey Comperatore, severely injured David Duch and James Copenhaver, and injured the former president in the ear in an assassination attempt.
