Roseanne Barr defends Ingrid Andress after national anthem performance

Roseanne Barr has sympathy for people who get the national anthem wrong.

The 71-year-old former “Roseanne” star spoke out in defense of country singer Ingrid Andress, who came under fire for singing “The Star-Spangled Banner” at Monday’s MLB Home Run Derby.

Andres, 32, later said he had been intoxicated and planned to go to rehab.

Barr himself Notorious performance Andres, who stopped singing the national anthem more than 30 years ago, defended it in an interview. TMZ Tuesday.

The actress said the song is “the hardest in the world to perform” and that Andrés’ performance wasn’t as bad as people have made it out to be.

Barr also admitted that he still thinks his national anthem performance was the worst in history.

In 1990, Barr became the laughing stock of conversation for his brutal performance at a San Diego Padres baseball game.

She belted out the lyrics to the national anthem and even covered her ears while it was being performed.

To make matters worse, Barr grabbed her groin and spat on the pitcher’s mound to cap off this infamous moment.

Everyone had something to say about then-Attorney General Barr’s performance, including then-President George H.W. Bush.

“My reaction was, this is a disgrace, and a lot of people in San Diego have said the same thing,” Bush reportedly said aboard Air Force One. The Washington Post.

In 2016, Barr explained what happened during the performance.

“I started off too high, I couldn’t hit the big note until about six notes,” she said. The Washington Post“So I tried to get through it, but I couldn’t hear a thing over 50,000 drunk idiots booing me, yelling ‘fat b*tch’, giving me the finger and throwing bottles in the middle of a song they so ‘respect’.”

Andres had an equally tough performance in Monday’s Home Run Derby at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

Some MLB All-Stars, including Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm, had trouble keeping their composure while Andres sang.

Fans slammed Andres for X and also commented on Barr’s terrible performance.

“Roseanne Barr may have fallen to second place for worst national anthem!!” One X user exclaimed..

“If you want to know how bad the national anthem was, Roseanne Barr is trending.” Another fan wrote.

“Roseanne Barr delivered the worst national anthem of all time, but tonight was close.” Someone said.

Fans also compared Andres’ performance at the 2018 NBA All-Star Weekend to Fergie’s.

Fergie later addressed the backlash, saying, “I’m a risk taker artistically but clearly this performance did not achieve the mood intended. I love this country and I honestly did my best.”

Barr tweeted about Fergie’s performance at the time, “Did anyone see Fergie singing the National Anthem at the NBA All-Star Game? I think I was more subdued.” Said.

Meanwhile, Andres, when speaking out about his controversial performance, claimed he was drunk during the Home Run Derby.

“I’m not gonna lie, I was drunk last night,” the “Lady Like” singer says. He said in a statement on social media. Tuesday.

“I will be checking myself into a facility today to receive the help I need,” she added. “What happened last night was not me and I apologize to MLB, all of my fans and to the country I love for that performance,” Andres continued. “I will let you all know what rehab is like. I hear it’s going to be a lot of fun.”
