JD Vance Makes the Case for American Manufacturing Revival

Republican vice presidential nominee Senator J.D. Vance of Ohio spoke at the Republican National Convention (RNC) about reviving American manufacturing, vowing to protect American workers’ wages, build factories, and thwart the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) economic dominance.

Vance, who accepted the Republican nomination for vice president on Wednesday night, laid out a platform of economic nationalist policies centered on putting the interests of working-class and middle-class Americans first.

“We’re going to stop catering to Wall Street and we’re going to work for workers. We’re going to stop importing foreign workers and we’re going to fight for the American people and for good jobs and good wages for them,” Vance said.

“We’re going to stop buying energy from countries that hate us, and get our energy from American workers. We’re going to stop sacrificing supply chains for unlimited global trade. And we’re going to put a beautiful label on more products that says ‘Made in the USA,'” Vance continued.

We are also going to build a factory. We employ people and we make authentic products, made by American workers, for American families. We will protect the wages of American workers and stop the Chinese Communist Party from building a middle class at the expense of the American people. [Emphasis added]

In his speech, Vance detailed the years of economic decline that have hurt communities like Middletown, Ohio.

“For decades, the gulf between the few who enjoy power and comfort in Washington and the rest of us has only widened,” Vance said. “From Iraq to Afghanistan, from the financial crisis to the Great Recession, from open borders to stagnant wages, those who govern this country have repeatedly failed.”

“That was until we had Donald J. Trump, who is America’s last best hope for restoring what, if lost, may never be found again,” Vance continued.

But my fellow Americans, this moment is not about me, it’s about all of us, and who we fight for. It’s a story about autoworkers in Michigan who wonder why out-of-touch politicians are destroying their jobs. It’s a story about factory workers in Wisconsin who make things with their hands and take pride in American craftsmanship. This is the story of energy workers in Pennsylvania and Ohio who can’t understand why Joe Biden would buy his energy from a little dictator and not from hardworking Americans at home. And It’s a story about a single mother like me who struggled with money and addiction but never gave up. And I’m proud to say that my mother is here tonight, 10 years drug free. [Emphasis added]

Joe Biden has been a Washington politician longer than I’ve been alive. He has been the driving force behind every major policy that weakens and impoverishes America across half the country. In those four years, Donald Trump reversed decades of betrayal perpetrated by Joe Biden and other corrupt Washington insiders. He created the best economy in history for working people. Imagine what he could accomplish with four more years in the White House. [Emphasis added]
