LAS VEGAS — Lakers rookie Bronny James showed promising signs for his second straight NBA Summer League game Thursday night, scoring 13 points in Los Angeles’ 93-89 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The son of NBA all-time scoring leader LeBron James scored eight points in the first half on 3-of-5 shooting.
He finished the game making 5 of 10 shots, including 1 of 3 from 3-point range.
James also had five rebounds, three assists and two blocked shots.
James, the 55th pick in this year’s draft, had struggled throughout Summer League but scored 12 points on Wednesday night in an 87-86 win over the Atlanta Hawks.
Prior to that, James had made 7 of 31 field goal attempts this summer and 4 of 19 in the two games in Las Vegas.
James played last season as USC’s lone college basketball player, appearing in the team’s final 25 games and averaging 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists.
He suffered a cardiac arrest during training last summer and was diagnosed with a congenital heart condition that required treatment and kept him out of the start of this season.
