Democrats are almost certain to lose Arizona if they replace President Joe Biden with Vice President Kamala Harris and California Gov. Gavin Newsom, Republican Senate candidate Kali Lake argued in an interview with Breitbart News Washington bureau chief Matthew Boyle at the Republican National Convention on Thursday.
“We are the party that puts the American people first and unifies the country,” Lake said of the Republican Party, describing the left as mired in discord.

“No matter what they say, they always say the opposite. If they say someone’s poll numbers are high, they’re probably low. They’re always pushing false claims,” she said, explaining that if Biden were to be replaced, it would be impossible for anyone other than Harris to be replaced.
“I can’t imagine it being anyone else, because the money can’t go to anyone else. And maybe have Gavin Newsom as your vice president. That would be great for Arizona, because Arizonans know how much California has fallen because of Gavin Newsom,” she said, explaining that no state should give up.

“We shouldn’t say no more. I want California to go back to its best days. … Right now California is in such a terrible state. It’s in such a terrible state because of left-wing policies. I want California to come back. I want Arizona to come back,” she said, noting that she had traveled with her family to California over the summer to cool off.
But ultimately, she continued, the way Newsom has destroyed California won’t work in Democrats’ favor, predicting that the Harris-Newsom pairing would “fail” in Arizona.
“Whether it’s Newsom or Kamala, the nominee is going to fail badly in Arizona because Arizonans have a phrase: ‘Don’t make Arizona California.'”

“He’s destroyed a once great state, and that’s at the hands of Gavin Newsom, so I welcome that pairing,” she said of a hypothetical Harris-Newsom pairing if Democrats pull Biden out of the race.
Her comments coincide with an Axios report that cited multiple Democratic Party officials as saying Biden would step down as the Democratic presidential nominee “as soon as this weekend,” though the Biden-Harris campaign has denied this.
