California rescue pup killed when UPS driver hurls 55-pound package over fence

A pet dog died after a UPS employee reportedly threw a heavy package over a fence in Los Angeles without checking to see if the puppy was lying on the other side.

The 55-pound load completely crushed little Lulu, said her grieving owner, Nalia Hartjundjian.

“When I received the package, my dog was already stuck,” said Harutjuncan. He told KCAL News.

Shocking CCTV footage captured by a neighbour shows a UPS delivery man driving a huge box towards the house at around 5pm on Wednesday and dumping it over the gate without making any attempt to contact the recipient or ring the doorbell.

Hartjungjian’s Ring camera showed the driver a few minutes later crouching down and looking toward the gate, apparently after hearing a suspicious noise.

That’s when the dog’s owner lifted the box and saw a horrific tragedy.

“Neighbors were there,” Hartjunjian said, “and they helped me take the dog and get it to the clinic in Mission Hills, but the dog passed away.”

A grieving woman from Los Angeles rescued Lulu a year ago and said the little puppy was a treasured member of her family.

“Yesterday, before I let her out, I held her in my arms and said, ‘I don’t know, Lulu, why, but I love you so much. That’s the last time,'” a tearful Hartjungjian told media.

Heartbroken and angry, Hartjungjian contacted UPS and Amazon, which she claims facilitated the purchase.

She is now considering taking legal action against both companies and the driver.

“He can kill me,” she said. “He can kill the baby playing here, or he can kill somebody else.”

UPS told The Post it is aware of the situation and plans to investigate.

The delivery company did not say whether the driver had been disciplined for his actions or whether he had violated company rules by tossing the package over the fence.

Amazon did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

This tragedy is not the first time a UPS driver has allegedly injured a dog by throwing a heavy package.

In 2022, a delivery driver was caught on camera in Florida throwing a box containing a wheelchair over a gate.

The driver drove off without warning the homeowner. He told Fox 13 At the time, they believed they would never have found out about the incident if they hadn’t checked security cameras.

Luckily, the dog was unharmed.
