Texas Governor Greg Abbott told delegates and a live television audience at the Republican National Convention that President Joe Biden’s border crisis is having a devastating effect on his state and the nation. Abbott’s address to the convention came on the night that Sen. J.D. Vance accepted the Republican nomination and was sworn in as vice president of the United States.
During his speech at the Republican National Convention on July 17, Governor Abbott reminded the audience that in the absence of border enforcement by President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, Texas is on the front lines to secure the border with Mexico.
“Biden abdicated on day one of his presidency,” the Texas governor told the assembled delegates. “He has watered down President Trump’s policies with disastrous results.”

After multiple attempts to get President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris to come to the border in Texas, Governor Abbott told convention attendees he had decided to bring the border to them. Governor Abbott ordered migrants to be bused voluntarily to Washington, D.C., and other sanctuary cities across the country.
“When Joe Biden and Kamala Harris refused to even come to Texas to see the border crisis, I showed them the border,” the governor said. “Texas has bused over 119,700 illegal immigrants to sanctuary cities across the country. We continue to bus immigrants to sanctuary cities across the country. These buses will keep running until we finally secure our border.”

Abbott recounted how the governor’s office ordered thousands of National Guard troops and Texas State Police troopers to be deployed to the border in response to Biden’s deliberate decision to reverse successful policies implemented by President Donald Trump. Abbott said the National Guard has erected hundreds of miles of barbed wire along the border.
“They (the National Guard) built that barrier to stop illegal crossings,” Abbott explained. “When Joe Biden ordered (the Border Patrol) to cut down that barbed wire, I ordered the National Guard to triple the barbed wire on our border.”
Abbott also said voters could fire Joe Biden and Kamala Harris on November 5.
On November 5th, Joe Biden will be fired, and in January Donald Trump will be president again.

“And come January, Donald Trump will be our president again,” Abbott concluded. “He will enforce our immigration laws, fight Mexican drug cartels, and arrest illegal immigrants who commit crimes. It’s time to restore order to our border.”
